Johannesburg, 15th September 2011 – Jones Lang LaSalle has appointed Roger Long to head the valuation offering for its South Africa office. Roger has over 25 years of experience gained while working in South Africa and the Middle East.
Commenting on Roger’s appointment, Mark Bradford, CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle South Africa, said: “Valuations is a strategic addition to our local and African service offerings as we integrate this previously outsourced function into our Capital Markets, Corporate Solutions and Research activities to the benefit of our clients. Roger’s international experience will contribute to our objective of furthering international standards of best practice in our South African and African markets with local accountability “.
Previously Roger headed up the valuation team in Jones Lang LaSalle’s Dubai office, where he oversaw US$85bn worth of valuations of master planned development land and existing building portfolios, for debt and equity finance, IFRS, shareholder reporting and decision making purposes. Clients included the UAE Ministry of Finance, The Abu Dhabi stock exchange, and master developers Nakheel and Emaar.
Commenting about his new role at Jones Lang LaSalle South Africa, Roger said, “The benefit of using a global Tier One company is in the ability to draw on specialist teams from around the world in the fields of, for example, seaport and airport valuation, plant and machinery, healthcare, and hotel and leisure, in addition to retail, office, and industrial property valuation. Twenty five valuation teams service Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and between them they carry out commercial valuations to the tune of US$350bn annually. I foresee tremendous opportunity both locally and in the rest of Africa to expand Jones Lang LaSalle’s valuation service offering. “
